"Hakuouki Shinsegumi Kitan is a new 12-episode anime series animated by Studio DEEN, and began airing in Japan on the TV Tokyo network on April 4, 2010. Based on the popular otome game of the same name developed by Otomate, it follows the story of Yukimura Chizuru, who travels to Kyoto to search for her missing father, and the Shinsengumi."

In my oipinion the anime had birth to give even to all the who weren't able to play the game to know the title and be in love with the various awesome characters that have life in the Hakuouki world and to give the possibility to who played the games to see their favourite guys move freelie in an animation. In the game in fact the characters aren't free to move like in the anime, but they are static figures who move their mouths sometimes and which you listen the voiced that join the script and optional choice to allow the protagonist of fall in love with one of them.

"The protagonist, Yukimura Chizuru, is the daughter of a doctor who works in Edo. The father leaves Edo to work as a volunteer doctor and moves to Kyoto without his daughter. As time passes by, Chizuru starts worrying about losing contact with her father, so she decides to go to Kyoto in search of him. On the way, Chizuru is attacked by few criminals and witnesses a fight between an oni and the Shinsengumi. Taking her into custody and saving her, the Shinsengumi debate on what to do with Chizuru when they discover that she is the daughter of the doctor they are also looking for. In the end they decide to become Chizuru's protectors and help her look for the missing father. She is to live with them as they discover mysterious secrets and fights against the Bakumatsu."

The Manga

As an balcen between anime and games,the manga it's a short introduction to the Hakuouki worl and then, it allow the reader to inspect and know better the single Shinsengumis in any of the chapters, trying to direct the worl to the original plot of the serie. In brief it is a way to know deeply any character, something that it's better read if you still have played one of the game or saw the anime.
